"A True Revelation": Yachting News Reviews the Aquila 50 Sail
Yachting News recently spent a day aboard the Aquila 50 Sail for a comprehensive sea trial departing Fort Lauderdale, testing everything from...
Aquila Catamarans now offers the Avikus NEUBOAT Dock II as a factory-installed option on the 46, 50, and 54 Yachts, as well as the 42 and 46 Coupes. The system uses six cameras to deliver a 360-degree surround view of the vessel with real-time distance measurement, object detection, and docking assist guidance. It is installed at the shipyard and available globally.
Think of it as the boating version of what you already rely on in your car: surround-view cameras and parking sensors, now purpose-built for the marine environment.
Six stainless steel cameras are mounted around the vessel (bow, bow-port, bow-starboard, port, starboard, and stern) and feed into an onboard processing unit. The result is a comprehensive 3D bird’s-eye view displayed right at the helm, where captains can pan, zoom, and toggle between individual camera angles depending on the maneuver.
As the vessel approaches a dock, piling, or other obstacle, the system provides real-time distance readings and transitions through alert stages. During a live demonstration aboard the Aquila 50 Yacht, the display showed measurements at six feet, four feet, and then a caution alert within three feet of the dock.
Why it matters to Aquila Owners
Even the most confident captains appreciate more information. NEUBOAT Dock II gives catamaran owners a complete, real-time view of everything around their vessel, turning close-quarters maneuvering into one more thing you do well. The result: calmer arrivals, less stress for everyone onboard, and a better end to every trip.
Quick answers
Does it dock your Aquila for you? Today, NEUBOAT Dock II puts a complete picture of your surroundings in front of the captain at the dock, while NEUBOAT Navi extends that awareness to objects ahead while underway. Automated docking capability is coming next, with NEUBOAT Control adding autopilot and autodocking functionality. Both NEUBOAT Navi and NEUBOAT Control will be available as options on select Aquila vessels in the near future.
Can it be added to an existing Aquila? It is currently offered as a factory-installed option on new builds. For after-market install, contact Avikus.
Is it available worldwide? Yes. Installed at the Aquila shipyard and delivered with the vessel to your local waters, wherever that may be.
